By Emily Bovill
when i was seven
i knew i wanted a wedding
and by the age of eleven
i picked out my wedding song
i learned the lyrics in seconds
i danced alone in my room
imagining my future fiancé
i dreamed of him as
someone who made me feel like i was catching lightning
when i was thirteen i picked out the style of my dress
a white strapless ballgown with gems at the top
by fifteen i thought of places and guests
somewhere inside in case it rains
when i was seventeen i met you
and when you promised me to keep dancing wherever we went next
i knew finding you was a one in a million chance
and i know you didn’t fight for us long enough
to see this through
but i’ll always remember the feeling i got
when i believed the person i used to dream of when i was little
was you
