one bullet could take away my life
who knew having melanin in my skin
could start wars and definitely fights
they laugh at my words
eat it up with one whole bite
never hearing my words
until mothers cry at night
dark all around with only one light
shooting anyone in sight
screams and movement from all around
he got arrested for just making a sound
he was making music with his mouth
not doing what they said
and standing up for what is right
mothers say to stand up strong
and if they take the music they are wrong
stuffed with anger and frustration
because their white bodies never knew the word reconciliation
privileged from the beginning of time
not with money and jewelry,
but because they could speak their mind
