Substitute Diaries: Four

by Emily Casella

Today was the day right before the break. I thought that all of the teachers would be in because it’s an easy day, but there was one out of course. I was sent to one of my favorite classes in fourth grade. This class is full of personalities and they are all great kids. There is even an Emily in this class which is always fun to have someone in class that has the same name as me.

There were no plans left, but that was because we did absolutely nothing due to it being the last day before break. The kids got to do coloring sheets, word searches, drawing, and we watched movies. It was the most chill day I think I have ever spent being a substitute.

Another fun thing about today was that it was pajama day. Now, of course, the kids earlier in the week had already asked me to wear my pajamas. Since they asked, they shall receive. I came to school in fuzzy pajama pants, fuzzy socks, slippers, a messy ponytail, and a long sleeve. The kids all thought it was the coolest thing ever that I dressed in my pajamas and I got many compliments from them. I must say they all have some pretty cool pajamas as well so I’m glad that I was able to see them all.

Later on during the day, my class had art so I decided to go visit a kindergarten class. One student in this class is the cutest little boy ever. He has special needs and has some learning disabilities. Whenever he sees me he runs up to me and yells “Ms. Emily!” and gives me a big hug. He was also in his pajamas which were Mario-themed and he even had a plush Mario. I was glad that I was able to step away for a minute to see him.

At the end of the day, I decided to give my class stickers. No matter how old these children are, they will always love stickers. I told them it was because of their amazing behavior throughout the day and because I had so much fun with them. It was a great day and they definitely deserve a solid 10/10.
