Where Did the Time Go?

The first time I set foot on Lasell’s campus I was a junior in high school. Looking back, now nearly five years later, it feels just like yesterday. As a senior, my friends and I find ourselves reflecting on all of the good times we shared together, but unfortunately, we are now looking at particular events as our last. We’ve had our last first day of classes, our last early wake up to register for classes, and even our last Halloweekend. While this is our last year as college students, we are still trying to enjoy ourselves, and avoid using the “G” word that is happening in May. We still laugh and look forward to the future, but the good times can’t outlast Father Time.
It all started back in the fall of 2015. I was a freshman, overwhelmed with the thought of meeting tons of new people. I was most concerned as to who I would be friends with, and luckily there was no problem finding those. Lasell planned a Welcome Weekend for the incoming class, and I immediately began to mingle. I went to the “Amazing Race” in Boston and even took a harbor cruise, leading me to meet many of the people who I am still friends with today. Since then, we have grown together, the only difference being that we went from a group of eight watching movies every night, to a group of eight trying to meet up once a week.
While there have been study abroad trips, internships, relationships, and jobs, we all are close to this day. It’s difficult to remember all of the times we have shared because there are so many. Sophomore and junior year are nonexistent in my memory because we tend to remember the first and the most recent memories the most. A quick trip through my camera roll remedies this, and soon my mind is flooded with all the great times we have had.
Making friends is not the only aspect of college that has sped by at Lasell. My classes are a blur, and oftentimes I find myself wondering what semester it was when I took a particular class. It feels like a dream; I remember the information from the class, but I don’t remember every classroom experience. Perhaps this is the result of taking in so many experiences.
I feel like my time at Lasell started yesterday. In the grand scheme of things, four years isn’t a long time, but the memories that have been crammed into these four years will last a lifetime. Though I have answered many questions while at Lasell, there is one question I keep asking myself: Where did the time go?
